REMINDER: Wednesday March 10th is elementary school spirit day! Wear your a BFHE gear or school colors. Do you need to purchase spirit wear? A small selection of spirit wear items will be for sale on Monday, March 8th beginning at 2:30 PM at the front entrance of the school during pick-up. We will accept Venmo and check only. Please abide by social distancing and mask requirements. 

Our next
PTCO Board Meeting will take place on Thursday, March 25th at 6 pm.  Meetings will be held virtually this year.  If you would like to attend, please email Sara Brinkley for the access information.  We hope to see you there!  


Noodles & Company Community Night is Tuesday, March 9th from 4-8 pm.  Please make sure you mention our school, and then show a copy of the flyer when picking-up your order so BFHE receives credit for your purchase!  You can also order online or in the app - just follow the instructions on the flyer & enter our code "GIVING25"!  We hope you can attend!  Click here for a flyer or view below.


SAVE THE DATE: We will be having a VIRTUAL Scholastic book fair from April 30th - May 14th.  Unlike previous years, this will not be a BOGO fair, but there will still be a great selection of books at great prices!  Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.


Community Canvas Night is Saturday, March 27th at 6:30 pm! 
Join Ms. Knowlton for a virtual painting event.  Families can purchase painting kits and pick them up before the event.  There will also be aprons available for purchase - adult AND child sizes!  Check out the painting and apron below and click here to sign up.

KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP!  CCSD encourages parents to register their kindergarten-aged students for the coming school year. This helps plan school staffing needs and provides parents with the needed information to help prepare for that important first year of school. Students currently attending a CCSD preschool do not need to register for Kindergarten.  Click here for more information and/or click on the image below to enlarge. **CCSD will register REMOTELY due to COVID restrictions.  


We have IN-STOCK BFHE T-shirts for $20 (available for purchase with cash or check at PTCO events).  


NEW!  We now have BFHE Decals available in the front office for $6 each.  If you'd like to purchase one, please stop by the office with cash or check. They look great on water bottles, laptops, car windows, etc. 

BOX TOPS!  Our spring submission deadline has passed but we encourage families to continue to collect and scan as the contest is year-long. Please continue to collect clips now and over the summer and bring them to school when we return.  Scanned Box Tops do not have deadlines - don't forget to submit your receipts on the app!  NOTE: You can now credit your Box Tops earnings to a specific person, classroom or grade level!!! Check out this video to see how to use the Give Credit feature in the app to tag your earnings and help track participation. LONGMONT DAIRY CAPS were already submitted for the spring.  However, please continue to collect caps now and over the summer; they can be placed in the bin in the hallway by the front office when we return to school. THANK YOU!  🙂🐮

For parents, this app will keep you up to date with all the happenings of the school! ​ You'll have easy access to school calendars, news, staff directories, a student absence form, and more!  When you install the app, be sure to say yes when it asks to allow push notifications.  This will enable you to get notifications that will pop up on your home screen.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS from BFHE as we return to in-person learning on 1/11/2021:

  • Cars are not allowed in the bus loop at any time.
  • Dogs are not permitted on school property.
  • Be mindful of crosswalks.
  • The fire lane is for pickup/drop-off only. Parents should not exit the car or park. A staff member will help your child in and out of the car.
  • U-turns are not allowed in school zones.


IMPORTANT SCHOOL INFORMATION: From 7:45-8:00 AM, students may enter the front entrance of the building or the rear entrances.  Students will be greeted by our staff and directed to their classrooms.  Parents may walk their child to the doors, but not enter the building to walk students to their classrooms due to our safety precautions.  Parents and students must be wearing masks on school property.  Please social distance from others while on school property.

The USDA Helps Families By Providing Free Breakfast and Lunch through the School Lunch Program.  The US Department of Agriculture is helping families with the continuation of their meal pick-up program for CCSD remote learning, quarantined, and hybrid (MS/HS) students - click here for more info

Upcoming Community Service Project Opportunity: Raising Kindness Colorado events connect children and families to community issues.  Join Raising Kindness to learn more about the Snack Pack Project for CCSD students who receive free and reduced lunch.  Snack kits will be provided to these students over spring break.  Click here for more information.

CCSD District Accountability Committee is forming an Executive Membership Team: Cherry Creek School District is in the process of reorganizing the structure and purpose of the District Accountability Committee to better align with state statute and the expectations of the CCSD Board of Education. Part of that process is establishing an Executive Membership team within the DAC. As per state statute, the Executive Members would be responsible for advising the CCSD Board of Education in various areas of district operations including spending priorities, review of charter school applications, the effectiveness of district programs, and other priorities as needed. Cherry Creek School District Superintendent Search Information: As part of the process of selecting the next superintendent of the Cherry Creek School District, our Board of Education would love to hear from you about what characteristics you would like to see in our next leader.  Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts via this short survey: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6192384/CCSD-Stakeholder-Survey. Your input is extremely valuable and will help guide the Board's decision. Elementary School #45 (Blackstone Community): The Cherry Creek School District is pleased to announce the construction of a new elementary school to alleviate overcrowding and provide a quality education to students in the southeast area of the district. Elementary #45 is scheduled to open for the 2022-23 school year and will be located in the Blackstone neighborhood, on the west side of S. Blackstone Pkwy across from E. School Nurse Request: The nurse is in need of boys and girls clothes size 8-10.  If you have any to donate, we would appreciate it!  Please send them to school and have your student drop off at the nurse's office.  Thanks!

School Accountability Committee (SAC)
The work our School Accountability Committee does during its monthly meetings supports the school and assists our principal in making important decisions that directly impact our school and our students!  Click here to learn more.  The meetings for the 2020-21 School Year will be VIRTUAL on Sept 16th, Nov 4th, Feb 10th, and April 7th from 6-7 pm (VIRTUAL LINK).  All parents are welcome to attend!  If you would like to participate in one or more of these meetings please email tmuma@cherrycreekschools.org. You will receive a personal invitation with a link to the meeting. 

We have been adopted by Aurora Fire Rescue through the Adopt a School program. Some basics about the Aurora Fire Rescue Adopt-A-School program:
- A crew of 4-5 fire fighters will visit our school each month for about 60 minutes
- Crew members will provide any number of classroom support functions like reading with children or helping with class work, going to lunch and recess with our students and answering any questions students may have. 
The purpose of the program is to provide instruction to children about fire and burn prevention and emergency preparedness, engage our community, provide a greater understanding of the role of the fire service.

BFHE Awarded 2019 Unified Champion Special Olympics National Banner School!!!  BFHE was 1 of the 174 schools (14 here in Colorado) selected out of the over 7000 Unified Champion Schools in the United States. BFHE's school community has exemplified impressive courage and inclusion that stood out among all schools nationwide. Marker Recycling: BFHE is now recycling markers, any brand.  If you have any you wish to recycle, please put them in the bin (marked "recycle markers") in the front hallway located next to the PTCO board.

BFH CLUBS/EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES                                                                            

VIRTUAL Spanish Club: a new session will begin the week of January 11, 2021.  Classes are provided by Spanish Enrichment, Inc and are taught by native Spanish speaking teachers.  Click here for a flyer with more information, including pricing, discounts, topics, and times.

Thank you, in advance, for your support of all of the PTCO programs and events this year!  Fundraising will look a little different due to COVID-19 and the restrictions in place to maintain social distancing and the health of our school community.  

Each year, the money we raise is used for technology, classrooms, school programming, integrated arts, SPED, and other school-related items.  Your contributions are vital to our students' success and are greatly appreciated!

Last school year (2019-20), the PTCO was able to raise close to $100,000!  With these funds, the school was able to make the following purchases:

~Phase 1 updates to the playground (see below)
~Document cameras and headphones for classrooms
~New/Updated materials/equipment for Specials
~Professional development for Teachers

~Many other various school expenditures (school programming supplies, books and bookshelves, etc).

During the 2018-19 school year, the PTCO voted to allocate funds raised from the 2019 Auction and 2019 Fun Run to update the BFHE playground and blacktop.  We asked the school community for your feedback about what improvements can be made.  

SURPRISE! The NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT was installed over the long weekend (3/6-3/10/2020)!
