School Accountability Committee (SAC)

The work our School Accountability Committee does during its monthly meetings supports the school and assists our principal in making important decisions that directly impact our school and our students!  Click here to learn more.  The meetings for the 2019-20 School Year will be Sept 10th, Dec 3rd, March 11th, and April 16th (TBD due to COVID19) from 6-7 pm in the BHFE Library.  All parents are welcome to attend!

We have been adopted by Aurora Fire Rescue through the Adopt a School program. Some basics about the Aurora Fire Rescue Adopt-A-School program:
- A crew of 4-5 fire fighters will visit our school each month for about 60 minutes
- Crew members will provide any number of classroom support functions like reading with children or helping with class work, going to lunch and recess with our students and answering any questions students may have.
The purpose of the program is to provide instruction to children about fire and burn prevention and emergency preparedness, engage our community, provide a greater understanding of the role of the fire service.

THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THE PTCO!

Thanks in advance for your support of all of the PTCO programs and events this year!  The money we raise is used for technology, classrooms, school programming, integrated arts, SPED, and other school-related items.  Your contributions are vital to our students' success and are greatly appreciated!

Last school year (2018-19), the PTCO was able to raise close to $100,000!  With these funds, the school was able to make the following purchases:

~A Tractor with snow plow
~Additional Furniture for our NEW Innovation Spaces
~TWO new Water Bottle Dispensers for our Students
~New Computers for our Teachers
~Professional development for Teachers

~Many other various school expenditures (including specials equipment, school programming supplies, books and bookshelves, etc).

Distribution of PTCO Funds Raised 2018-19
Technology/Media: (30%)
School Programming: (25%)
Classrooms: (20%)
Integrated Arts: (15%)
SPED: (10%)
Principal's Priorities: (nominal%)

The BFHE PTCO had originally planned to allocate proceeds from this year’s spring fundraisers as it did last year, with funds going to technology & media (30%), school programming (25%), classrooms (20%), integrated arts (15%), SPED (10%), and principal’s priorities (nominal). A significant portion of this year’s spring proceeds will be saved to go towards projected updates to our school playground. We plan to return to a similar allocation of funds in the 2019/20 school year as we have had in previous years. We want to thank all the community donors who are helping us to make our school be the best it can be.

This year, 2019-20, the PTCO has voted to allocate funds raised from the 2019 Auction and upcoming 2019 Fun Run to update the BFHE playground and blacktop.  We asked the school community for your feedback about what improvements can be made.  The survey is now closed and we are compiling data.  Stay tuned for more information about the exciting changes that will be coming soon!

SURPRISE! The NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT was installed over the long weekend (3/6-3/9)!
Our co-president stopped by with her kids to check it out on 3/5/20!

***Please see click here to see the letter from Principal Muma and the PTCO regarding the plans for our playground.  Click here and here for renderings. Please email Pam Holloway, PTCO Co-President, with any questions.
