BackPack to Go Community Service Project
Thank you so very much to all of our sponsors and to our community members. With your generosity we created 110 backpacks to go - each including a protein, breakfast bar, granola bar, snack, fruit cup, treat, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, chapstick, sanitizer, bandaids, socks, beanie, gloves and a bottle of water. With all donations we had left after making backpacks are still going to benefit Aurora Warms the Night, Aurora Mental Health Center, and our sister school serving at risk students. Thank you again for your generosity and making someones life just a little brighter. We were also able to donate over 300 coats and dozens of additional items. Thank you BFHE community and sponsors!

11/8-11/12 Fall Book Fair
We were very thankful to be able to welcome parents and students back into the school building for our in person book fair. It was a huge success! Thank you to all who came out and enjoyed some good books!
PTCO and Student Parliament Food and Clothing Drive 11/6/2021
Thank you to everyone who came out to help volunteer at the food and clothing drive. We also want to extend a big thank you to everyone in the community helped by donating items. The event was a huge success! Our partners in the community apprciate the help and support as well.
Trunk or Treat 2021
Thank you to Dions and Garlock Orthodontics for supporting our Trunk or Treat Event. Thank you to the enrtire BFHE community for helping make this a successful event. We hope everyone enjoyed this fun night!
National School Lunch Week
This week is National School Lunch Week. Students are encouraged to take part in the school lunch program which is FREE to all students this year. School lunches meet strict guidlines for nutrition. Students can also help celebrate national school lunch week by printing out the coloring pages and turning them into the front office by 10/15/21. All pictures turned in will be posted in the cafeteria next to the National School Lunch Week poster. You can find the printables by clicking the National School Lunch Week Color Pages!
On Monday, October 11th, 2021 the BFHE PTCO sponsored a mobile blood drive in partnership with Children's Hospital Colorado. This lifesaving event helped the hospital meet the needs of its patients during a time of critical need. Check back soon for pictures of the event!
10 Year Anniversary Carnival Celebration!
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Black Forest Hills 10th Anniversary. Everyone had so much fun at the carnival celebrating with games, prizes, ballons, food and friend! We appreciate the support of our community! A BIG thank you to Jessica Drummond with Coldwell Banker for donating all the candy for the carnival!
Black Forest Hills Elementary Kindergarten Graduation and 5th Grade Continuation Yard Signs!!! PTCO offered customized yard signs to celebrate kindergarten and 5th grade promotions.
Kona Community Night is Friday, May 21st from 2:30-4:30pm in the Tallyn's Reach Clubhouse Parking Lot! Your student should have brought home a flyer with a coupon attached. Please check their backpacks if you didn't get it!!! ***We only have enough coupons for 1 per student at BFHE, so unfortunately we cannot replace them if lost.
The VIRTUAL Scholastic book fair was April 30th - May 13th. Book Fair Classroom Contest Winner ANNOUNCED: Ms. Seidel's class turned in entries totaling the highest sales at the Spring Book Fair! They won a pizza party and $35 in Scholastic dollars for the classroom. Thank you to all the families who participated and made the online book fair a success!

Community Canvas Night is Saturday, March 27th at 6:30 pm!
Join us for a fun family night from the comfort of your home! PTCO and Student Parliament have paired up again to bring you a spectacular, Covid style community event.
Here’s how it worked:
*You signed up
*Your child received all of the supplies needed and prep instructions on Wednesday, March 24th (OR, there will be an afternoon drive through pick up at 3:15).
*An email inviting you to the Zoom call was sent
*At 6:30 pm on Saturday, March 27th, you log into Zoom and Mrs. Knowlton will lead the family through a canvas painting of an owl!
The cost is $40 for a 4 pack. Additional canvases can also be purchased for larger families. (If your family does not need all 4, the kit is yours and you will have plenty of paint for additional free painting.)
***As an added bonus, you can purchase kid-sized BFHE aprons. It will come in handy for our canvas night as well as easy to send to school for art days! When ordering aprons, the Child Size will fit most Kindergarten (click here to see fit on a kindergartener) and 1st graders (click here to see fit on a 1st grader). The Adult Size is best for most 2nd-5th graders.
All proceeds from this event will go to purchasing picnic tables for outdoor lessons and benches for the playground area. In order to have a good quality for the call, we are limiting the number of “tickets” for this event so sign up fast! WE ARE SOLD-OUT!
We can’t wait to see you and spend a fun family night together.

Parent Teacher Conferences are approaching the week of March 1st, and we are once again providing our wonderful teachers with dinners. Instead of asking for help with preparing and bringing food in, we are asking for parent donations to sponsor a teacher by donating $5, $10, $15, or whatever you can. This will allow us to provide two catered dinners, drinks, and desserts on Tuesday, March 2nd and Wednesday, March 3rd. Any excess in funds will be saved and used during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Please donate via Venmo, @BlackForestHills-PTCO, or you can send cash/check donations payable to Black Forest Hills PTCO with your student and have them give it to the front office Attn: Kellie, Conference Dinners.

Monday, February 8th ~ Dress Alike Day! Dress as a twin, triplet, your whole lunch table, or your whole class.
Tuesday, February 9th ~ Book Character Day! Pick your favorite book character and have some fun (No costume masks or weapons allowed).
Wednesday, February 10th ~ Favorite Color Day! Wear your favorite color loud and proud.
Thursday, February 11th ~ Picture Day!
Friday, February 12th ~ Kindness Day! Wear red or messages of kindness shirts. Have a little fun and spread kindness all day long. 💕

THANK YOU: Food Pantry Fill Up and Warm Clothing Donation For Our Buddy School (Dec 2020)
On behalf of PTCO and Student Parliament, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all those who participated in our food and warm clothes drive. We definitely filled the pantry! Our community donated two trucks worth of food. Approximately, 150 families will benefit from your generosity. As for the warm clothing drive, you exceeded our expectations. We will donate 4 truckloads worth of clothes and boots to our buddy school! They will be hosting a drive by shop to help clothe their families for winter.
I wanted to do a shoutout to all the PTCO volunteers, Student Parliament Kids, Mrs. Pearne, Mrs. Kohne, and Mrs. Kellie for spending their day helping our community. Also, a huge shout out to Sarah Brinkley for working with Student Parliament to get things moving!

On Saturday, November 28th from 10 am-12pm, Parliament and PTCO are partnering to give back to our community. Please consider participating in our drive-through donation event for our highly at-risk Buddy School in Denver and help us fill Eastern Hills Market Place. Our Denver Buddy School needs warm winter wear and would greatly appreciate the underclothes necessary for Colorado Winters. If you have gently used coats, hoodies, snow pants, scarves, mittens, gloves, or boots in any size from infant to adult, please bring them over! We are also asking for new, in package, undershirts, underpants, and socks in all sizes. The teachers will be distributing them to needy families on home visits.
Eastern Hills Market Places serves around 100 Aurora families each month. Their pantry shelves will be in high demand with Cherry Creek Schools going full remote. They have a wish list of popular items in need, but will gladly take other items as well. Please consider grabbing some extras on your next grocery visit to donate. Their wish list includes: toilet paper, paper towels, spaghetti sauce, canned chicken, boxes of oatmeal, juice boxes, canned tuna, and boxes of mac and cheese.
We want to make drop off as easy and as socially distanced as possible. On Saturday, November 28th from 10:00-12:00, we will have trucks ready to be filled in the Black Forest Hills parking lot. You will simply drive up, put your items on a cart for the Market Place, drive forward and drop your items on the cart for our Buddy School, and then be on your way with a warm fuzzy feeling knowing how much joy you just brought our community.
***If you would like to participate but are unable to drop off items during this time, please email Sara at email@example.com to arrange an alternate drop off.

Our Butter Braid sales are nearing an end! Everything is done online so no paper order forms are needed! If you haven't done so already, you can set up your student's registration information using this link. Butter Braid pick-up day is November 18th (time TBD). Butter Braids make great gifts and are perfect for holiday breakfasts and events. All sales support BFHE!

Cherry Creek Reads Week is March 9th - 13th. Across the district, students, parents, teachers, staff, friends and family members are encouraged to read for 67 minutes or more during Cherry Creek Reads. The goal is simple: to create a community of readers and foster a lifelong love of reading. The theme for the week is “Read Together, Change Lives Together,” and is based on the inspirational book Because by Mo Willems. Click here for more information.
Boys' Bingo Night was January 31st 2020; THANK YOU to everyone who attended our first Boys' BINGO Night! We had a great turnout with some great prizes. Thank you to our DJ and PTCO volunteers who put this together for our students.

MAKE-A-WISH and SPIRIT WEEK at BFHE was 1/27 through 1/31/2020. Students voted for their favorite color throughout the week by bringing in dollars to fill the bucket of their favorite color. The color that raised the most money was worn by everyone on Friday, January 31st! The winning color was BLUE!
UPDATE: Thank you so much to the BFHE community! We raised $3,200 for Make-A-Wish during our Wish Week in January.
We are so excited to finally introduce you to JULIAN! He is a 10 year-old boy who received a bone marrow transplant to fight leukemia and his wish is to go to Nintendo World in Japan! Some of Julian's favorite things are pizza, Kit-Kats, rap music, fast cars, and the movie “Fast and Furious”! He also loves riding scooters, playing soccer, and Super Mario. We are so excited to help make Julian's wish come true!
WINTER BREAK FOOD DRIVE UPDATE:
From the BFHE Staff: We are so humbled by all the generosity that we have seen this holiday season with Backpacks for the Homeless and, most recently, our canned food drive. We received over 1250 non-perishable items that we donated to a local food bank that ultimately went to support over 60 families. Thank you for all that you do for our school and community!
***The PTCO would like to THANK all of our wonderful parent volunteers and sponsors for your assistance with Trunk or Treat, the Book Fair, and Teacher Conference Dinners. Without your help, all of these events over the past few weeks would not have been successful. THANK YOU!!!
Trunk or Treat Update: We had 29 donated trunks this year between our sponsors, families, and BFHE staff. Everyone did an amazing job with their decorations and costumes (see below for pictures - Click to enlarge). This year's event was the biggest yet and a HUGE success!
Our Decorated Trunk Winner is....THE BOLES FAMILY! Everyone who decorated a trunk for our Trunk or Treat event was entered into a giveaway for 4 Avalanche Hockey tickets. Please join us in congratulating the Boles Family!
ALSO, the PTCO would like to extend a very special THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who helped to work the event and to those who donated extra candy. We couldn't have done it without your help!
