Meeting Descriptions
- School Accountability Committee (SAC): The BFHE School Accountability Committee (SAC) is a very important committee and the work that is done during the monthly meetings supports the school and assists the principal in making important decisions that directly impact our school and our students! Topics that are discussed at our SAC meetings include, but are not limited to: school safety, school improvement plans, curriculum, school programming, school budget, the possibility of future school schedules, student wellness, and positive behavior support, as well as important topics such as bullying.
- Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC): The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) focuses on the educational needs of students with disabilities. The committee is composed of parents of children with special needs, as well as professionals and community members. It serves in an advisory capacity to Student Achievement Services/Special Populations and the Cherry Creek Board of Education. At monthly meetings, programs are presented that relate to special education. The meetings are open to anyone wishing to attend.Contact: Norma Irgens, 720-554-4236
- Parent Information Network (PIN): PIN’s mission is to provide informative local and national speakers on topics relevant to current parenting and youth-related issues and to provide a forum for parents to connect and create a caring community.
- Partnership for Academically Successful Students (PASS): The District P.A.S.S. (Partnerships for Academically Successful Students) is comprised of parents, Cherry Creek teachers and administrators, and community members. P.A.S.S. supports the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence and is a critical component of systemic equity transformation. P.A.S.S. at the district level is led by the Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence and supported by the P.A.S.S. Steering Committee, and serves the purpose of engaging community members in meaningful and effective partnerships that lead to positive outcomes for all students, but more specifically, students of color. P.A.S.S. is a structure that fosters the intentional building of relationships between the school and the parent communities in an effort to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. P.A.S.S. also gives parents and guardians of students of color voice and direct access to the administration.

- News from the Nurse:
- Welcome to Black Forest Hills Elementary! I am Nurse Ashley! My primary goal as the school nurse here at Black Forest Hills Elementary is to support the health and safety of your student/s during the school day. To help provide and partner together for the best care of your student/s here are some important health information reminders for your review.
- Immunizations:
Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless they have a certificate of medical or nonmedical exemption on file. (SB20-163). Be sure to submit your student’s updated immunization record. To find the list of school-required immunizations, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environments website: https://cdphe.colorado.gov/schoolrequiredvaccines. - Change of Clothes:
It is the expectation for all students to be fully toilet trained unless otherwise discussed. We know accidents happen, so if your student may need a change of clothes, please keep a bag in your child's backpack with a clean set of clothes (shirt, pants, shorts, socks, and/or shoes) and other supplies they prefer (i.e. wipes).
Some helpful hints:
During the winter it is a good idea to have a change of clothes in case they get wet during recess
Most toilets at the elementary school have an automatic flush, so it helps to expose them to this prior to the start of school if they have not experienced them much - Health Conditions:
Many of our students have health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, allergies, epilepsy/seizure disorders, and other chronic illnesses. Please contact me if your student has any health conditions that could impact them during the school day so that we can plan for a successful start to your student’s educational journey!
If your student has a medical condition that may require medication (over-the-counter, prescription) or nursing procedures (g-tube feeding, tracheostomy care, suctioning, etc...) during the school day a current signed order by your student’s health care provider is required. Unless otherwise specified, orders are valid for 365 days post signature and need to be updated annually. CCSD Health Services forms and action plans can be found here: https://www.cherrycreekschools.org/Page/1743 - When will you hear from the clinic?:
- We WILL NOT call you for every clinic visit for:
- Bloody noses, scraped knees/elbows, stomachache, “I don’t feel good”, etc
- We WILL call you EVERY time for:
- fever
- vomiting
- uncontrolled cough
- significant injuries that may require more medical attention outside of school
- significant hit to the head or genitals
- will LOOK DIFFERENTLY f(from the neck up) when you see them after school
- multiple visits to the clinic with the same complaint (either in the same day or over a short period of time)
- if we have contacted EMS for an emergency
- If you prefer to be contacted for every clinic visit please let me know
- We WILL NOT call you for every clinic visit for:
- Things to help keep your child safe and ready to learn while at school:
- Close toed shoes to help prevent injury on the playground and at PE
- Pack an extra change of clothes in your students backpack in case of wet clothes or accidents
- Appropriate attire for the weather
- Apply sunscreen PRIOR to school. The school can not apply it without a physician's order.
- Send student with a water bottle daily. Good Hydration = headache prevention
- Eat breakfast which can help prevent stomach aches and headaches which in turn allows your student to stay in class and avoid clinic visits. Pack an extra snack just in case.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT SEND YOUR STUDENT TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE SICK! When in doubt call the clinic before sending your student to school.
